OUR FAVORITE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND GETAWAYS

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, and for many of us, this is one of the first opportunities in a few years to get out of the house and enjoy an adventure. At Miracle Cadillac, we’ve been talking to our customers about their plans for the weekend, and are ready to share some ideas! If you’re not sure where to go or what to do, you’re in the right place. Here’s a look at some exciting options, all within a few hours’ drive.

Jersey Shore Adventures
Just a short distance away, the Jersey Shore is the perfect place to spend your Memorial Day weekend. With the beaches, boardwalks, rides, and waterparks all open and ready to accept guests, you’ll find that there’s never a shortage of things to do here. Whether you want to spend your days in the casinos or lounging in the water, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for at the Jersey Shore.

Visit to the Poconos
If you’re looking for an even shorter drive, consider packing up the car and heading to the Poconos for the weekend. During the Memorial Day holiday, the towns, rivers, and lakes are all alive with activity. From fishing and whitewater rafting to indulging in incredible dining experiences, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

Maryland Beaches
Willing to go a little bit further? Ocean City is a great destination! While the area will likely be busy, it’s rarely so packed that it takes away from the fun. There’s typically plenty of room at the beach, restaurant waits are minimal, and while the bars are full enough to be a blast, getting service is still a breeze. If you want to enjoy a vacation atmosphere without the stress and hassle, this might be the perfect option for you.

Camping Hotspots
Prefer to get away from it all and connect with nature? There are plenty of nearby camping hotspots not far from the Kutztown area. The Mountain Top Campground is located just a few minutes from Pittsburgh. It offers spacious sites, stunning views, and two creeks where you can fish and swim. Since it’s only 30 minutes from downtown, you can also head out and enjoy all the historic area’s entertainment and activities.
Pine Hill RV Park, located in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, is also an excellent option. Not only can you enjoy a quiet and beautiful atmosphere, but you’ll also be centrally located so you can explore Crystal Cave or bring the family to the ever-popular Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom.

Celebrate Locally
Not quite ready for a full-blown road trip yet? There are plenty of fun things to do that are just a short drive away. Here are some of the best local events happening over the holiday.

Lehigh Valley Zoo’s Red, Wine & Blue
If you’re looking for a fun daytime adventure, head over to the Lehigh Valley Zoo for their Red, Wine & Blue festival on May 28th from 10 am to 3 pm. During the event, you’ll be able to wander around the zoo and check out the animals while enjoying samples of wine and cider, live music, and tasty treats from artisan vendors.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Jim Dietrich Park
On May 30th at 9 am, you can take a break from celebrating to honor veterans from our military branches and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This Memorial Day Ceremony will take place near the flagpole at Jim Dietrich Park in Muhlenberg. It will feature guest speaker Tommy Dunston who was a soldier in the Vietnam War and live music will be provided by the high school band. Light refreshments will also be served after the ceremony.

Memorial Day Celebration at SteelStacks
Located just a short distance away in Bethlehem, the ArtsQuest™ Center at SteelStacks™ is hosting special events all weekend long, from May 28th through the 30th. This 12th annual commemorative event will feature live music on all three days, remembrance ceremonies, and a luminary display honoring those who have served.
