Memorial Day is a time to pause and remember those who gave all in the service of our country. It’s also the unofficial kick-off to summertime fun, with communities around the area coming alive with exciting activities.
Whether you prefer lounging on the beach or exploring some of the area’s hottest attractions, there’s no shortage of exciting ways to enjoy the holiday. If you’re thinking about loading the family into your comfortable and roomy Cadillac SUV and heading out for an adventure, you’re in the right place! Here are some of our recommended Memorial Day road trips and tips that are sure to please the whole crowd.

Take a Trip to the Jersey Shore

Escaping to the Jersey Shore is a time-honored summertime tradition. Whether you’re planning a day trip or you’re going to stay for the entire weekend, you’re sure to find something for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the most common options include relaxing on the pristine beaches, shopping at quirky shops, checking out seaside amusements, and exploring boardwalk eateries. If you have kids, consider visiting Jenkinson’s Aquarium, the Casio Pier Amusement Park, and the Silverball Pinball Museum.
There will also be plenty of Memorial Day parades and other celebrations nearby. If you’re a foodie, you definitely won’t want to miss the Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival, which will be held on May 27th through the 29th from 11 am to 5 pm. The event will feature nearly 40 mouth-watering food trucks and two stages with live music from 12 pm to 4 pm each day. On Saturday and Sunday, you’ll also find family-friendly activities including a bounce house, pony rides, clowns, and face painters.

Visit the Pocono Mountains

The Pocono Mountains are the ideal place to spend Memorial Day weekend, with plenty of options for outdoor adventures. If you’re driving a Cadillac Escalade or an XT6, you’ll have plenty of space for family, friends, and all the cargo you could need.
Head out on a whitewater rafting expedition, go horseback riding, or try your hand at paintball. You can also visit the Mount Airy Casino, with more than 80 tables and over 1,800 slot machines as well as several onsite bars and lounges. Looking for something a bit more relaxing? Get away from it all and spend a quiet day fishing on the lake.
On May 28th, plan to head to Mountain View Vineyard and Winery for their Memorial Day Vendor & Food Truck Festival. This free event will feature craft vendors, food trucks, and fun games for the entire family.

Explore Washington, DC

With its smooth ride and impeccable handling, you can feel confident that your Cadillac SUV will make a road trip to D.C. comfortable and relaxing. Once you arrive, there’s a long list of must-see attractions. You’ll also find that this city celebrates Memorial Day like no other city can.
The National Memorial Day Parade is an epic event that you won’t want to miss. This televised event kicks off at 2 pm on May 29th and will feature active military personnel, veterans, historical re-enactors, musical performances, and celebrity appearances.
You can also pay your respects at the National Mall memorials and visit Arlington National Cemetery, where you’ll see American Flags placed at more than 250,000 military graves. When you’re ready to kick back and relax, you’ll find an array of gorgeous rooftop bars and local restaurants with delightful outdoor patios.
