Are Cadillac SUVs All-Wheel Drive?

August 12th, 2024 by

If you’re looking for a vehicle with all-wheel drive (AWD), you’re in good company. This is an extremely popular option among buyers who want superior handling in wet, snowy, or icy road conditions.
The drivetrain of an AWD vehicle sends power to all four wheels at once and automatically shifts it to the wheels that need it most. Vehicles with AWD systems can take off better on slippery roads and are better able to stay on the road, thanks to their ability to correct wheel slip as it occurs. Cadillac SUVs equipped with AWD offer better performance, superior traction, and improved off-road capabilities. As you shop for a new or certified pre-owned (CPO) Cadillac, you’ll find that AWD is an option on many models, no matter which trim option you choose. Here’s a look at some of the models you may want to consider.

Cadillac XT4

The Cadillac XT4 is a small luxury crossover that gives buyers the option to choose from three trim levels. Each trim level comes standard with a forward-wheel drive (FWD) system, but you can upgrade any of them to AWD. Each trim level also comes standard with the Cadillac Smart System suite of driver assistance and safety features, offering you even more peace of mind when you’re behind the wheel.
With a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 235-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the XT4 has a responsive powertrain that makes it a pleasure to drive. It offers nimble handling and a comfortable ride whether you’re making your morning commute or heading out on a cross-country adventure.

Cadillac XT5

A midsized luxury SUV, the XT5 also comes with three trim levels. AWD is an optional upgrade on the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims and it comes standard on the Sport trim. It also comes with an available twin-clutch-powered torque vectoring system which helps ensure the perfect amount of power is sent to each tire, further improving traction and performance.
Despite its larger size, the XT5 offers agile handling, refined power, and speed. The available AWD is also complemented by additional driver modes that allow you to further optimize your driving experience. This includes Off-Road, Sport, and Touring calibrations.

Cadillac XT6

The seven-seat XT6 has a third row of seating, making it perfect for growing families. The Luxury and Premium Luxury trims come standard with FWD, but you can upgrade to an optional AWD system. If you choose AWD, you can also opt for the Sport trim, which features a real-time damping suspension and Brenbo® front brakes.
The Sport trim also has a dual-clutch AWD system, which distributes power to either side of the drive axels, in addition to transferring it between the front and rear wheels. This is an upgrade from the Luxury and Premium Luxury versions, which simply transfer power between the front and rear wheels when needed. Overall, the XT6 offers a quiet, quick, and comfortable drive that offers excellent performance in both suburban and urban settings.

Cadillac Escalade-V

2023 is the birth year of the V-series Escalade. This high-performance electric vehicle features a 682-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine and comes standard with AWD. It also has Brembo® performance brakes and air suspension.
While Cadillac’s V’s AWD normally sends 50% power to each axle, when under launch control conditions, it will automatically shift 70% of the available power to the vehicle’s rear axles, giving it a substantial boost when you hit the gas pedal. The Escalade-V’s Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system also help to keep this massive vehicle under control.
The Escalade-V comes with six different drive modes including Sport mode, Tow/Haul, Snow/Ice, and Tour, which is for everyday driving. “My Mode” allows you to configure the steering, suspension, engine sound, exhaust, and brake feel right from the center display. The V-mode take things up another notch, allowing you to customize the tuning of your suspension, steering, shift settings, and more.
