Since so many of our customers are from Reading, we get plenty of chances to explore the city. With a commute of less than 30 minutes, it’s easy to hop over and enjoy some of the area’s great entertainment options. When we asked our staff to tell us about what they like to to do in Reading, the list was pretty long. Here are the five activities that came out on top. See a Musical at the Genesius Theatre
Since it first opened in 1971, the Genesis Theater has had quite an interesting history. Today, this quaint, 100-seat community theater is one of the area’s best spots to get an up-close and personal view of popular musicals like “Hairspray,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “The Little Mermaid.”  

Visit GoggleWorks Center for the Arts
Art lovers can’t get enough of GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. This 145,000 square-foot former factory now features 35 artist studios, teaching studios, and exhibition galleries. We love browsing through the unique artwork for sale, and when we have some extra time, there’s nothing better than catching one of the art house movies that are shown every day in the small on-site theater.

Challenge Ourselves at Reading Rocks
When we want to have some fun and work up a good sweat, we head over to Reading Rocks. The indoor rock-climbing facility and ropes course is a great spot for family-friendly fun or a challenging workout. Perfect for beginners and seasoned climbers alike, we love that we can pay one price and enjoy a full day of climbing adventures!

Check Out the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum
You don’t have to be a history buff or airplane enthusiast to enjoy spending a day at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum. Located at the Carl A. Spaatz field, this museum features restored and fully-functional antique aircraft. Not only can visitors take a peek inside these marvels, every Saturday from May to October they can also take a ride in some of the vintage planes! If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a weekend, check out the schedule for upcoming air shows. 

Grab a Brew at The Barley Mow
After a busy day at work, there are few things better than enjoying a beer at The Barley Mow (with a designated driver, of course!). This popular brewpub located in western Reading offers over 750 beers from 100 craft brewers across the United States. We love the huge selection as well as the comfortable atmosphere that’s reminiscent of a local coffee shop. Since they also allow you to order in food from nearby restaurants, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day.
